Does audio leave my Mac?
Akova keeps your audio on your Mac by default. Akova transcribes speech with on-device Whisper models, and Akova Prompt mode runs locally too, so dictation works offline. Cloud transcription exists only as an opt-in, with your own provider key.
How does Akova transcribe speech?
Akova transcribes speech on your Mac with WhisperKit, which runs OpenAI Whisper models through Core ML on Apple Silicon.
Which languages does Akova support?
Akova offers 16 languages in its language picker, plus automatic detection: Greek, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Hindi.
Which agents does it work with?
Akova works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any other terminal, editor or chat box. You dictate, and Akova types the result at your cursor.
What are the requirements?
Akova requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 and later). Akova does not support Intel Macs. Akova Prompt mode and its other clean-up modes use Apple Intelligence on macOS 26. On macOS 14 and 15 they run on a local Ollama model instead.
